A number of members of ETGZ have attended NODA summer courses and have benefited tremendously from them. Heidrun and Colin West, who went to the courses last year at the University of Warwick, thought it would be fun to have such a course in Zug. They invited Kate Nielson, the current director of the NODA Summer School, and Tri Cummings, who gave the NODA drama course in 1999, to fly in from Scotland to give a weekend drama workshop in Zug at the beginning of April. Since Kate (in the red jacket, middle of the picture) and Tri (in black, left end of the middle row) had never been here before, it was not too hard to persuade them to come.
John Evans invited members of the Zurich Comedy Club to participate. It was a great experience to have members of the two groups working together. Thanks to help from Sophie Gavard and John Pisanic, we were able to hold the workshop at the Riverside School in Zug.
We all learned a lot and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. We studied voice production and breathing, characterization, improvisation. We learned how to operate outside of our comfort zone. We all left with two things, a toolbox of techniques that will help improve our performances in the future, and the wish to do another workshop like this!
