I recently had the great pleasure of directing Roger and Hammerstein's musical Oklahoma! with the English Theatre Group of Zug. It was an experience I shall never forget because of their dedication, hard work and enthusiasm for the project. How so many diversified talents have found a home and an outlet for their expectations is truly fascinating and an aspect of Swiss cultural life that demands far more attention.

A lot must be said for the groups' dramatic, musical, choreographic, organizational and technical capabilities, without which, despite the usual few theatre bumps and disagreements along the way, a show of this size would never have happened. To thank everyone individually for their valued contribution, from the principles through to the stage hands, would take up far too much space. This was a good team of friendly people with a clear goal in mind. As with the play, where the cast are a community, so everyone eventually became a community of thespians in the true spirit of the theatre and brought to the public a thoroughly enjoyable, polished and slick show that has received praise from all quarters..

It only remains for me to thank my cast, crew and managerial staff as well as the Executive Committee and the ETGZ for their belief in me and their invaluable support. Here's to a job well done!
